AITPM 2023/2024 Year in Focus
Chris Roberts, NSW/ACT Branch President
What were your highlights of FY23/24?
The 2023 National Conference in Melbourne. While it’s an intense couple of days technically and socially, it’s great to meet people and see the breadth of what’s happening around the country. As a showcase of the Institute and having seen it evolve since my first one in 2016, it really exemplifies some of the things I’ve hoped for in the industry.
What was your favourite event(s) of the year?
We have had a few events in collaboration with Transport for NSW that not only taught attendees something, but also provided a conduit for industry feedback on draft guidance. We facilitated consultation on the Guide to Transport Impact Assessment which is very important in how our industry effects urban development outcomes.
These events really demonstrated AITPM’s value as an almost unique consultation forum for our industry.
Which partners, sponsors and stakeholders did you work with to achieve your outcomes?
We collaborated with Transport for NSW, WSP, GHD, Arup, Arcadis, SCT, EMM, Matrix, BDO, VLC, Ramboll, City of Parramatta and Urbis in delivering a full calendar of technical events, with future events planned with Aimsun, SMEC and AECOM. Arcadis and BDO have been brilliant supporters of our EPN events.
There is a lot going on in AITPM nationally - what are you most excited about?
I’m excited about the policy platform that is under development. For a lot of people, it’s a good opportunity to advocate when their day jobs make that awkward, and that opportunity can be very important if you’re value driven. It’s something I’ve always thought AITPM should do.
Are there any acknowledgments that you'd like to share for your Branch?
I’d like to thank the whole NSW committee for pitching in and delivering a consistent calendar of broad and varied events
