It is with great sadness that the AITPM has learned of the passing of Fainks Rossouw, a friend and colleague and one that we can call our own. Having been a Member of the AITPM for many years, those of us who got to know him well, soon worked out that he was warm, friendly and collaborative; a generally nice kind of guy.
Fainks was an experienced Transport Planner and Traffic Engineer who served the industry for more than 20 years. He was known to many in Queensland, having delivered numerous projects in transport planning, traffic engineering and transport economics.
In his latest work, he assisted Transport for NSW in the delivery of the Strategic Business Case for the $10B Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link Motorway planning projects.
Fainks was professional and organised. A details-oriented person and technically astute, he was respected by his peers. Always well prepared for meetings and presentations, he was a role model for younger engineers.
Prior to moving to Brisbane, Fainks worked in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, and South Africa.
Fainks passed away tragically at his home in Auckland, age 46, having recently returned to New Zealand for professional reasons and to be with his long-time partner, Nicola.
As per the wishes of his family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences, the AITPM has made a financial donation to Mental Health New Zealand.
AITPM Queensland will remember him and miss his regular attendance at our events.
