Engineer’s Career Trajectory Study - Invitation to participate in a research study
May 2021
Does your role provide you with the opportunity to work to the best of your abilities with a sense of accomplishment? Have you chosen to utilise your engineering skills in a field outside of engineering? Would you like a chance to win a $250 gift card in our confidential random prize draw?
My name is Sonia Reis from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). I am a PhD candidate, researching the career trajectories and pathways of engineers. I have worked as a professional engineer in the mining and metals industry for 17 years, achieving both Chartered and Registered Engineer status. Additionally, I have taught at QUT for the past 5 years.
If you have an engineering degree and/or are a professional working in the engineering field, we invite you to complete this 10-15 minute online survey. Your feedback is of utmost importance, enabling us to compare and contrast the experiences of professionals working in different fields of engineering. We also seek input from those who utilise their skill sets in a non-engineering field.
This study aims to identify the critical influential factors affecting the career trajectories of engineers and determine the impacts upon an individual’s career decisions, trajectory and pathway.
Upon survey completion, you will be eligible to enter our confidential random prize draw of two $250 gift cards. This study has been approved by the QUT Human Research Ethics Committee (approval number 2000000256). Further details on the study including how to participate and the prize draw terms and conditions can be found by clicking on the following link: https://qutc.syd1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3wu2VA1B4Xm00ey
