About this event
The landscape of transport is ever-evolving, and the way we communicate these changes to our communities is paramount. Each year, numerous promising projects across Victoria are shelved due to adverse community feedback or apprehension of losing public support. This often stems from a lack of effective communication and education about the projects, particularly those with humanitarian objectives. Many of these transport initiatives are designed to bring about social benefits, influence user behaviour, and enhance liveability, accessibility, and sustainability. However, the fear of pushing boundaries and securing approval often hinders their success.
This event aims to delve into the heart of this issue, examining a spectrum of transport projects - both successful and otherwise. We'll explore how these projects were communicated to the community, from strategic policy decisions to intricate design details, and how they were received - positively or negatively. We'll also uncover methods to enhance community engagement and share examples of successful initiatives, all with the goal of paving the way towards a sustainable and equitable transport future.
AITPM and VPELA invite you to join us on this enlightening journey. We're thrilled to have the esteemed Dr Julian O’Shea share his wealth of experience in public engagement. You'll also hear from our distinguished panel of speakers from both government and consultancy sectors.
So, come along, grab a drink, savour some delicious food, and engage in a riveting discussion on how we can transform our blueprint into a community buy-in. Let's shape the future of transport together!
Registrations close Friday 28 February 2025.
