Members are invited to join Eleanor and Gareth as they discuss WSP’s recent Australian White Paper - Public transport and COVID-19: Transitioning from response to recovery. As our cities start to open back up, it is crucial people that feel safe returning to public transport and we avoid a shift to private cars. Ensuring enough space for people to maintain appropriate distance while travelling will play an important role in both perceived and actual safety.
The presentation will consider how different distancing scenarios will affect public transport capacity on a range of modes, as we start to recover to a ‘new normal’. It will present a case study showing the implications for a busy commuter bus route, and explore operational, supply-side and demand-side considerations for the recovery from COVID-19.
