The formal meeting will be followed by presentations from two renowned speakers to discuss their thoughts on the impact of COVID-19 on public transport and Mobility as a Service (MAAS).

Professor John Nelson - Our old future for public transport won't work with the new normal
Prof John Nelson holds the Chair in Public Transport, Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (ITLS), University of Sydney. Prior to joining ITLS he was the Sixth Century Chair in Transport Studies and Director of the Centre for Transport Research at the University of Aberdeen. John is particularly interested in the application and evaluation of new technologies to improve transport systems as well as the policy frameworks and regulatory regimes necessary to achieve sustainable mobility. He is active in setting a research agenda for public transport, having recently completed a guest edited volume on “The Future of Public Transport” for Research in Transportation and Business Management (Feb 2020); and he is currently co-editing “The Routledge Handbook of Public Transport”. He is active in the ITS community and served as Scientific Director for the 11th ITS European Congress (June 2016), is a member of the ITS Australia MaaS National Reference Committee and a programme committee member for ITS Australia’s MaaS 2020 conference.
Professor David Hensher - What might Covid-19 mean for Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Restructured Strategic Model Frameworks?
David Hensher is Founding Director of the Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies at The University of Sydney; a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences; recipient of numerous awards including the 2009 International Association of Travel Behaviour Research (IATBR) Lifetime Achievement Award; the 2006 Engineers Australia Transport Medal; the Smart 2013 Premier Award for Excellence in Supply Chain Management; the 2014 Institute of Transportation Engineers (Australia and New Zealand) Transport Profession Award; and the 2019 John Shaw Medal which honours an industry champion who has made a lasting contribution to Australia's roads. He has published over 660 papers in leading international transport and economics journals as well as 18 books. He has over 55,000 citations of his contributions in Google scholar. He has just published a book with ITLS colleagues on MaaS: Hensher, D.A., Mulley, C., Ho, C., Nelson, J., Smith, G. and Wong, Y. (2020) Understanding Mobility as a Service (MaaS) - Past, Present and Future. Elsevier, May.
