About this event
Join AITPM NSW Branch to hear from a selection of NSW-based speakers from our recent National Conference in Melbourne. A great chance to hear presentations across a range of topics and connect with industry colleagues before and after. This is event is hosted and sponsored by Urbis.
We are excited to showcase the following speakers from our 2023 National Conference program to share their content locally in NSW:
- Alison Lee, Director, Urbis, presenting on "Changing Car Dependence in the Regions."
- Jessica Farrell, Director- Future Transport Strategy and Guidance, TfNSW, presenting on "NSW Design of Roads and Streets Manual."
- Tom Cooper, General Manager Aus & NZ, Beam, presenting on "E-mobility - Using Technology to Better Manage Compliance."
- Sarah Brickhill, Senior Transport Planner, City of Sydney, presenting on “When models are too wrong: a local council’s experience with strategic modelling”.
The presentations will commence around 6pm and will be followed by a Q&A.
There will be networking before and after the formalities at the Urbis Office, from 5.30pm.

Alison Lee | Urbis
Alison is a leading expert in transport planning, creating better urban places, client outcomes and helping transport support the lives people want to lead. She’s had more than 20 years’ experience including senior roles at major organisations including Urbis, GHD, Booz & Company and City of Melbourne working on major projects across Australia and New Zealand. Alison is known for making transport planning exciting, simple and accessible. She uses research, data and best practice to provide impactful advice that clients can act on. Alison is a subject matter expert and published author on the economics of great urban spaces and transport including the economic benefits of cycling and using streets for different purposes. She researches and commentate on large-scale travel behavior change projects and sustainable transport planning and reporting including new transport infrastructure and travel strategies for new developments and areas.
Jessica Farrell | Transport for NSW
Jessica is the Director, Future Transport Strategy and Guidance at Transport for NSW. She is responsible for developing the long-term vision for Transport, in collaboration with the whole Transport agency, and across Government. She also leads the development of strategic frameworks and guidance to support transport planning and its functions, such as the Integrated Transport Planning Framework and the Movement and Place Framework (which includes the Design of Roads and Streets manual). Jessica has worked in policy and strategy for over 10 years in transport with a particular interest in improving public and active transport options in cities and towns and creating better and more equitable places to live.
Tom Cooper | Beam
Tom has been involved in the shared micromobility industry across Australia and New Zealand since its infancy, and has seen the industry transform from its humble beginnings. Beam is now Asia Pacific’s largest shared micromobility company, with operations spanning more than 30 cities across Australia and New Zealand. As an industry leader, Tom ensures the shared micromobility industry breaks new ground in safety and environmental sustainability, raising the standards of micromobility technology across the region.
Sarah Brickhill | City of Sydney
Sarah is a senior transport planner at the City of Sydney. She has ten years’ experience in the industry in both Australia and the UK across the private and public sectors. She is passionate about using data and evidence to inform planning decisions and to understand the impacts of those decisions through post-opening analysis. She advocates for good planning outcomes, particularly regarding walking, cycling and road space reallocation.
