About this event
Join AITPM NSW Young Professionals for "A Day in the Life of” where we will be showcasing a snapshot of what the day to day work of professionals in the transport planning industry may entail. The perspectives will come from our experienced panel from public sector transport planning at TfNSW, private sector consulting at Arup and research and academia at UNSW. This is an opportunity to understand the different sides of transport planning, the work involved and the nuances of what transport planning means to these professionals.
The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions to the panelists about their role in the transport industry. Food and drinks will be provided. The event will have limited seating, so please register your interest in advance.
Guest Speakers:
- Annalie Boston, Senior Transport Planner | Arup
- Ken Ho, Transport Planning Manager | Transport for NSW
- Meead Saberi, Associate Professor | UNSW, footpath.ai
The event will have limited seating with the maximum number of attendees capped at 60 so please register your interest in advance.
For any enquiries, please contact Vanessa Ly-Dam
Annalie Boston | Arup
Annalie is a senior transport planner at Arup and a total nerd. Her career Venn diagram currently includes contract drafting, data visualisation and KPI development all within a large circle labelled "Improves public transport operational performance". 19 years of transport planning has taught her that the more ownership decision makers have over decisions, the higher the chance of success. "Knowledge is power" is a term that is being relegated in favour of "Data is power". Annalie is upskilling in a serious way to support decision makers to understand the data that is increasingly driving changes in how public transport services are delivered.
Ken Ho | Transport for NSW
Ken Ho is a Transport Planning Manager at Transport for NSW and has been working in the transport advisory sector for over 9 years. He has spent more than 6 years working for the NSW Government, where he experienced major organisational change with the merging of the former Roads and Maritime Services as well as systemic changes to transport network planning, such as the Movement and Place framework. Ken had a lead role in the recently published Westmead Place-based Transport Strategy. He recently completed the Master of Transport program at the University of Sydney while working in his current role.
Meead Saberi | UNSW, footpath.ai
Dr. Saberi is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). He holds a PhD degree in Transportation Systems Analysis and Planning from Northwestern University, a Masters in Transportation Engineering and a Bachelor in Civil Engineering. Dr Saberi currently leads the CityX research lab as part of the Research Centre for Integrated Transport Innovation (rCITI) focusing on scientific understanding of cities through modelling, simulation, data analytics, and visualisation. Dr Saberi is the co-founder of footpath.ai, an advanced mapping and data tool that uses the technology of artificial intelligence to generate maps that can be used for applications such as infrastructure planning, asset management and wayfinding.
