About this event
WSP is excited to host an in-person event at the WSP Sydney office, which will involve an engaging debate with experts in zero-emission vehicle strategy.
Transport in all its forms is on a quest for sustainability, and right now, the front-running technologies for zero-emission vehicles are hydrogen fuel cell and battery electric. Join experts from across industries as they discuss how each of these fuels can unlock the future of mobility for Australia and some of the challenges we face.
Key Themes: Zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) challenges and opportunities, new energy, grid preparation & stabilisation, emerging technologies for vehicles and refuelling/ charging infrastructure, and opportunities for the energy sector.
Hosted by:
- Dr Eleanor (Elly) Short - Senior Principal - Net Zero | WSP
Team Hydrogen Panellists:
- Kaiyuan (Neil) Wang - CEO | Foton Mobility
- Natalie Hanna - Sustainable Infrastructure Lead | Acciona
- Nolan Nel - New Energy Lead, Mining and Energy | WSP
Team Electricity Panellists:
- Tim Sullivan - Principal Transport Planner - Net Zero | WSP
- Carola Jonas - CEO | Everty
- Conor Richards - eMobility Technical Manager | Ampol
Catering and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!
This event is kindly sponsored by WSP

Dr Eleanor (Elly) Short | WSP
Elly is passionate about decarbonising transport, covering the whole spectrum from reducing the need to travel, to modal shift and switching fuels. She led the development of the Zero Emission Bus Transition Plan for Transport Canberra and has recently worked on projects for the Federal Government and Victorian Department of Transport on Electric Vehicle charging.
Eleanor has a PhD on road pricing and maintains a strong interest in future changes to transport systems associated with electrification, increasingly autonomous vehicles and pricing reforms. Her background is in strategic multi-modal and place-based transport planning, as well as business development for long-term road and ITS asset management and maintenance contracts. Her career spans both the private and public sectors, Australia and the UK.
Kaiyuan (Neil) Wang | Foton Mobility
Neil is passionate about the future of zero emissions transport in Australia. An experienced electric bus distributor and hydrogen bus solution provider, Neil has worked for the past decade in zero emission transport for Yutong Australia and Foton Bus Australia.
Neil is on the board of the NZ zero-emission industry group and is a member of the Australia Hydrogen Council. Neil is regularly sought for his experience in the Hydrogen and Battery electric bus industries.
Natalie Hanna | Acciona
Natalie is a Business Development and Strategy professional with a background across construction, infrastructure and resources industries focused on the infrastructure needed for the energy transition. At ACCIONA Construction, Natalie leads multi-disciplinary teams across the renewable energy, power transmission, energy storage, water and green hydrogen sectors. Natalie has first hand experience of zero emissions mobility as an EV and ebike owner and can’t wait to try out a hydrogen bbq.
Nolan Nel | WSP
Nolan is an EngExec accredited and registered professional engineer with over 22 years of experience in the engineering and delivery of technologies, from development to industrialized implementation. Ranging from process facilities, generation, heat recovery, energy optimization and emissions reduction, he has implemented several world-first technologies, including Australia’s first net zero emission, combined gas and hydrogen combustion power generation plant.
Nolan is part of WSP’s Decarbonisation Steering Committee and is versed in emissions quantification and benchmarking. Having benchmarked hydrogen generation technologies ranging from gasification to electrolysis for facilities up to 220ktpa of Hydrogen, Nolan incorporates a perspective of the current status of hydrogen applications up to industrial scale applications. He has a proven track record of delivering and managing engineering efforts that demand the unique application of specialist engineering and technologies and was an inaugural presenter at the Energy Australia Climate Smart Engineering conference; on the integration of ESG into engineering for the heavy, resource and process industries.
Tim Sullivan | WSP
Tim has been a consistent champion of sustainable and inclusive transport across a range of public and private sector roles for more than 15 years. Originally from the UK but living in Australia since 2011, Tim has firsthand experience of the two countries’ differing approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation.
His work experience ranges from policy and program development at Surrey County Council to major infrastructure projects and includes a recent two-year stint in the Regional Planning team at Transport for NSW.
In his current role, Tim splits his time between “future mobility”, which includes the electric vehicle transition, and “traditional mobility” which covers many other aspects of transport decarbonisation, including movement and place studies, public transport planning and active transport strategy through to design.
Carola Jonas | Everty
Carola founded Everty in 2016 to address climate change and the urgent need to transition to sustainable zero emissions transport. To achieve this, the Everty software platform makes it easy for businesses large and small to charge their own EVs or offer EV charging services to their customers and the public.
Carola has previously worked as a sustainability and marketing consultant with brands like Enphase Energy to bring storage solutions, microinverters and smart software to market. She also assisted EnergyLab, the first clean energy accelerator in Australia, to build and grow a vibrant start-up community of clean-tech companies and female entrepreneurs. Carola has over 15 years of experience in bringing products and services to market in Europe, Asia and in Australia and has worked for household names such as Climate Friendly, NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System), Transparency International and DB Schenker.
Conor Richards | Ampol
Conor has over 5 years experience in eMobility and renewable electricity infrastructure across Australia, the UK and Europe. Having played a key role in the launch and establishment of one of the UK’s leading public charge point operators (Osprey Charging Network) and now leading technology for Ampol AmpCharge across Australia in Public, Home and Business Charging Solutions.
