About this event
The AITPM Queensland Branch and WSP are excited to host an in-person breakfast event at the WSP Brisbane office, which will explore Australia’s transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and their role in decarbonising transport.
This is a great opportunity to hear from four industry experts who will discuss various aspects of the EV puzzle such as:
- Where is Australia on the journey to EVs?
- What charging infrastructure is required and where?
- Who will use it and when?
- How do we best design this?
- What can we learn from overseas?
Hosted by:
- Dr Eleanor (Elly) Short, Senior Principal and Strategy Team Leader in WSP
Panellists:
- Daniel Quan, Associate Director, Transport Planning, WSP (UK)
- Vibeke Matthews, Program Manager for Future Vehicles & Technology, Environment & Sustainability, Austroads
- Michael Taylor, Director (Policy Integration) | Transport Policy Branch, Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland
- Tim Camilleri, E-mobility Solutions Manager, Volvo Group Australia
The event will have limited seating so please register your interest in advance. Breakfast will be provided.

Dr Eleanor (Elly) Short | WSP
Dr Eleanor (Elly) Short is a Senior Principal and Strategy Team Leader in WSP’s NSW Planning and Mobility Team. She is passionate about decarbonising transport, covering the whole spectrum from reducing the need to travel, to modal shift and switching fuels. She led the development of the Zero Emission Bus Transition Plan for Transport Canberra, and has recently worked on projects for the Federal Government and Victorian Department of Transport on Electric Vehicle charging.
Eleanor has a PhD on road pricing and maintains a strong interest in future changes to transport systems associated with electrification, increasingly autonomous vehicles and pricing reforms. Her background is in strategic multi-modal and place-based transport planning, as well as business development for long-term road and ITS asset management and maintenance contracts. Her career spans both the private and public sectors, Australia and the UK.
Daniel Quan | WSP
Daniel Quan is an Associate Director from WSP UK, experience in both the public and private sector for a range of clients in the UK and Australia. He has recently developed WSP’s EV:Ready tool which estimates EV uptake and charge point demand in the UK. This tool has been used on over 25 EV projects across the country to help public and private sector clients understand likely EV uptake at a neighbourhood level between now and 2050, and how to plan and accommodate that future growth.
Includes a range of electric vehicle strategies, cycle projects and plans, and travel behaviour change initiatives. Daniel has extensive experience in electric vehicles, having written strategies for Sutton, Northamptonshire, Norfolk and Hertfordshire – and is currently delivering strategies for Suffolk and Cambridge.
