About this event
This insightful event explored the future career opportunities for transport professionals in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympics & Paralympics, and beyond. As Brisbane prepares to host the Games, significant investments are being made in the city's transport infrastructure, leading to a transformative impact on the sector. This event featured leading industry experts who discussed the projected developments and the emerging career paths in transport planning, engineering, logistics, and management. Attendees gained valuable insights into the evolving landscape, the skills in demand, and strategies for positioning themselves for success in a post-Games Brisbane.

Favourite Olympic / Paralympic sport
Marathon – anyone that can run/wheel that far that quickly is amazing in my eyes. It also provides a great opportunity to showcase the host city.

Favourite Olympic / Paralympic sport
When it comes to Olympics/Paralympics I'll literally watch all the sports, I love it! If I had to pick a favourite it's probably swimming (helps when Australia is usually very strong in swimming!) and the Athletics is always good to watch.
Renee Smith | Associate - Transport Planner and Project Manager| ARUP
As a Transport Planner and Project Manager with over 20 years of experience, Renee has been involved in a wide range of transport network changes, from planning and evaluation to construction, infrastructure/systems/operations 'Go Live', and major events delivery.
Games Experience
- For GC2018 (Gold Coast Commonwealth Games), initially planning venue-related legacy infrastructure projects for the City of Gold Coast, then Transport workstream lead for Travel Demand Management (with TMR), finally Cluster Venue Transport Manager for GOLDOC. During Games, part of the Transport Command Team for the Games Operations Centre.
Favourite Olympic / Paralympic sport
Impossible! My favourite sport is one with a passionate crowd watching, whether in the stadium, out on the streets for road events, or watching from home, pubs or live sites – the enthusiasm is infectious!
