AITPM SA Branch are pleased to present this in-person technical event on 40km/h Area Speed Limits - the Results are In!
Suburbs in the City of Charles Sturt extend from the city-fringe to the coast, with streets ranging from narrow and tree-lined to wide and open. In recent years, 40km/h Area Speed Limits have been installed within 18 suburbs, resulting in just over 50% of the local streets within the municipality now having a 40km/h speed limit.
- Has this been an effective traffic control measure?
- Have drivers accepted the changes and have residents noticed any improved amenity?
- Have any crashes been prevented or cut-through traffic been deterred?
The City of Charles Sturt commissioned the University of Adelaide to conduct a technical review, to determine the impact of the lowered speed limit (50km/h to 40km/h) on driver speed, traffic volume and crash data. Painted Dog Research were also commissioned to conduct a community survey to gauge community sentiment toward the new speed limit.
Join the AITPM SA Branch for this presentation where we will indulge you with the results and discuss the impact of changing the speed limit without any other costly traffic calming measures being installed.
To fully comply with Government’s regulations and requirements for public events and social distancing, this event will have limited seating and the maximum number of attendees is capped at 50.
Please ensure that you meet the Government heath guidelines and practice good hygiene. If you have been unwell within the past 21 days, we strongly suggest you do not attend.
