The South Australia branch of the Australian Institute of Traffic Planning and Management (AITPM) and Arup present "Beyond the Big Build: The Next Era of Transport in South Australia" - an engaging and thought-provoking event that will delve into the exciting possibilities and challenges that lie ahead in shaping the transport landscape of South Australia.

The format of the event will be a highly interactive Question and Answer style amongst the MC, panellists and the audience.

- What are the potential social and economic impacts of the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in South Australia, and how can we prepare for this transition?
- What steps can be taken to create a more inclusive and accessible transport system for people with disabilities in South Australia?
- What role can smart cities and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies play in optimising the efficiency and sustainability of South Australia's transport infrastructure?
- How can South Australia leverage renewable energy sources to power a sustainable transport system, and what role can hydrogen fuel cells play in this transition?

Dr Ariella Helfgott | Department of the Premier and Cabinet, SA
Dr Ariella Helfgott is the Director of Strategic Foresight in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, of the Government of South Australia. She has almost 20 years of Strategic Foresight experience, having been the Director of Scenarios with the World Energy Council, a member of the Shell Scenario Team, Director of Collaborative Futures, Senior Fellow at the Universities of Oxford, Utrecht, Wageningen and Adelaide, and Strategic Analyst with the Australian Department of Defence. She has worked across 26 countries in 8 global regions on multi-actor collaborative systemic change processes that enable the cocreation of better, more sustainable, equitable, healthy and prosperous futures. She holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Adelaide.
Jeremy Conway | Infrastructure SA
As Chief Executive of Infrastructure SA, Jeremy has led development of the State’s first 20-year infrastructure strategy and is responsible for providing independent advice to the South Australian Government on infrastructure projects and prioritisation.
Jeremy's team has a strong focus on evidence-based decision-making and seeks to improve the maturity of infrastructure planning and investment across government. Infrastructure SA also aims to identify projects that deliver benefits for all South Australians by adopting a state-wide cross-sectoral lens.
This is aided by Jeremy’s deep experience in both the public and private sectors. He has held senior roles at the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure and Department for the Premier and Cabinet; meanwhile his vast commercial and business experience comes from having worked in property development at Places Victoria for three years and in private equity CVC Capital Partners in London for nine years.
Tom King | Arup
Tom is an Associate Principal – Transport Planning at Arup. Tom has spent his career working at the intersection between transport demand and supply, in support of better outcomes for cities and the people who live in them. He played a leading role developing and implementing policy for Transport for London's Congestion Charge, and regularly works on citywide strategies, the planning and consenting of major transport infrastructure (currently Auckland Light Rail), and airport expansions including London's Heathrow.
Russell Troup | Department for Infrastructure and Transport
Russell is the Director of Transport Strategy and Network Planning at the Department for Infrastructure and Transport, leading a highly capable team to help shape the future of Transport in South Australia.
Russell is responsible for the development of various multi-modal transport and freight (rail, road & air) strategies then implementation through comprehensive planning and land use development management. He also holds the strategic asset management portfolio focused on developing robust and practical AM strategies and plans that optimise value-for-money through smart investment in assets and to ensure they're fit for purpose in the future.
