VIC EPN | Careers in the Transport Industry

Madeleine has five years’ consulting experience and currently works as a transport engineer at GHD. Madeleine graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and has an extensive skillset in transport planning, road safety, traffic engineering, intersection modelling and project management. She is also an accredited Road Safety Auditor. Madeleine has project experience across all parts of Australia, ranging from small scale residential developments to major projects. Currently juggling many hats, Madeleine is working as the Assistant Project Manager for GHD’s involvement on Major Road Projects Victoria (MRPV) where she manages the involvement of technical specialists across the company, she is running a road safety project for the Department of Transport & Planning which seeks to rate the Victorian road network in terms safety, and she is working on a number of renewable energy projects (amongst other exciting things!).

Sohani is a transport modeller at SMEC with over seven years of experience in the consulting and research sectors. She has worked in Melbourne and Adelaide and has experience working on strategic and operational projects nationally, including some of the biggest transport projects in Melbourne. Sohani has a PhD in Transportation Engineering, specialising in smart mobility and applications of AI technologies to promote sustainable transportation. She is contributing to academics through her role as a Research Fellow. She has several publications in international journals with a total of over 1000 citations on Google Scholar. She is also an active member of the AITPM Transport Modelling Network Committee. Sohani is passionate about combining her research, data analysis and modelling skills to find innovative solutions to transport problems.

Laura is a transport planner at Movement & Place Consulting, with experience across the private, public and research sectors. Laura understands how land use and transport can be planned and measured to support healthy, inclusive and sustainable mobility. Laura holds a PhD from Monash University for research exploring the impact of urban design and land use on public transport use. She conducted further research exploring the health impacts of walking and cycling-oriented design. In her early career, Laura worked as a sustainability consultant at EY, and as a bus planner at the Department of Transport and Planning.
