The AITPM WA Emerging Professionals Network Showoff Night is a chance for you to gain an insight into different areas of the transport industry as our speakers share their great work! Come along, join other young transport professionals and network in a relaxed setting and hear what some of our early to mid-career level professionals have been up to.
Our Emerging Professionals Network Showoff Night is an exciting event to celebrate and showcase all the greatness of the Emerging Professionals in the transport industry as well as providing an incredible insight into the different areas of the transport industry we all work in. It is a fun, informal night and a great way to interact with other young professions, come and see some of Perth’s best talk about what they love most.
Speakers include
- Natasha Koekemoer a Behaviour Change Program Officer from the Department of Transport presenting on building WA’s bike riding capacity with WA with WA Bike Month.
- Cameron Steel a Transport Engineer from PJA presenting on the City of Vincent 40km/h Speed Zone Trial project.
- Nikki Palmbachs from RAC will be presenting on RAC member Priorities Tracker survey results to bring the community’s perspective on topics such as vehicle emissions and active and public transport.
- Ella Wintle a Planner from WSP will be presenting on a project which aims to understand how women comparatively use and experience public transport in Perth.

Speakers
Natasha Koekemoer | Department of Transport WA
Natasha Koekemoer is passionate about serving the community through programs that benefit young people and the environment. She’s delivered WA Bike Month and various Your Move active travel schools and community programs across WA. She will be presenting on building WA’s bike riding capacity with WA Bike Month
Cameron Steel | PJA
Studied Bachelor of Civil and Construction Engineering from Curtin University. He has around 5 years of undergraduate and postgraduate experience in the private sector with his main skills being in transport engineering, planning, analytics and road safety. Cameron Steel is a Road Safety Auditor trainee and a member of the AITPM EPN WA committee and various Transport Australia Society committees.
Cameron Steel will be presenting on his involvement in the City of Vincent 40km/h Speed Zone Trial project. Whilst at Stantec, Cameron Steel worked with Tim Judd at PJA, where he now works, to undertake a Residents Perception Analysis to understand how the community perceived the outcomes of the trial over time and determine if there was a behavioural change as the trial went on.
Nikki Palmbachs |RAC
Nikki Palmbachs is Senior Public Policy Advisor within the Social and Community Impact division at RAC WA. She is a policy professional with over seven years’ experience across several industries. At RAC, she is responsible for managing research projects and providing evidence-based policy and technical advice complemented by community input, to help reduce harmful vehicle emissions for cleaner, healthier air.
Nikki will be presenting on RAC Member Priorities Tracker survey results, to bring the community’s perspective on topics such as vehicle emissions, and active and public transport, to the conversation. These surveys are used to better understand what’s important to RAC members, who are broadly representative of the WA community, to support safe, sustainable and connected communities now and into the future.
Ella Wintle | WSP
Graduated Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning at Curtin University. Early into her career, Ella Wintle has already proven to be a versatile and dedicated planner. She is particularly passionate about sustainable transport infrastructure and planning for accessibility and connectivity.
Ella Wintle will be presenting a planning research project she has undertaken with her colleagues at WSP, titled ‘Going Pink’. This project aims to understand how women comparatively use and experience public transport in Perth, utilizing bespoke and previously confidential data sets from various industry collaborators. The project creates gender-sensitive transport analysis in a way that has not been done in Perth before. The support and engagement from these collaborators have been vital to the research’s success and the next steps for ‘Going Pink’ in Perth. Creating motivation to steer the transport industry collectively towards gender equity through a range of initiatives.
