This webinar will provide an update on the work that Austroads is leading with the road transport agencies to improve the safety of road users and road workers around temporary traffic management environments.
This national harmonisation work includes:
- An update to the Australian Standard AS 1742.3 Traffic Control for Works on Roads and the national Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (AGTTM);
- A National Prequalification Scheme for organisations that deliver design and / or implementation of temporary traffic management for the Austroads member agencies participating in the scheme;
- A National Training Framework for people who deliver design, control or implementation of temporary traffic management for the Austroads member agencies participating in the scheme;
- A National Registration Platform for online management of prequalified organisations, approved training providers and qualified individuals.
The updated AS 1742.3 and AGTTM are being adopted in the road agencies’ practice while the Prequalification Scheme and National Training Framework are expected to be launched in 2022.

Richard Delplace | Austroads Program Manager
Richard is Austroads Program Manager for Transport Network Operations, facilitating knowledge sharing, delivering best-practice research and leading harmonisation efforts between the ANZ road transport agencies on matters relating to transport network operations, network operations planning, traffic management, traffic engineering, and road freight management.
Thuan Nguyen | Technical Coordinator
Thuan is a Traffic Engineer with 20 years of experience in Road Safety and Traffic Engineering. Thuan was involved in a number of projects including developing road safety and traffic policies for VicRoads (Department of Transport), updating Austroads guides and Australian Standards, and reviewing/authorising traffic management for road construction projects and major events. Thuan is currently Chair of the Australian Standards MS-012 committee for Traffic Control Devices, and Transport Lecturer at Swinburne University.
