About this event
AITPM NSW Branch where pleased to be hosting this special event to support National Road Safety Week (5-12 May 2024).
Hosted at the GHD office, attendees had the opportunity to hear from leaders across the industry, who will share some of the positive steps being taken to reduce road deaths and ways in which industry to work together in improving road safety.
This technical event was of particular interest for professionals working in local government, state road agencies, private consulting, and academia. In addition to providing an opportunity to hear technical insights from the industry leaders in road safety the event will provide an opportunity to network to support better working relationships so we can all contribute to road safety together.

Sally Webb | Deputy Secretary, Safety, Environment and Regulation | Transport for NSW
Sally Webb leads the Safety, Environment, and Regulation division at Transport for New South Wales, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of road safety. Her leadership is integral to the implementation of the Road Safety Action Plan 2026 which features targets to halve deaths and reduce serious injuries by 30% on NSW roads by 2030. Sally's commitment to reducing fatalities and serious injuries is evident in her approach to enhancing legislative frameworks and fostering community engagement and education, all aimed at promoting a safer transport environment.
David McTiernan | National Leader Transport Safety | National Transport Research Organisation (formerly ARRB)
David will speak from a road safety research perspective about road safety issues and touch on what AITPM members and the wider transport industry can do to support the delivery of 2030 and Vision Zero targets to eliminate death and serious injury on our roads.
Jane Rotsey | General Manager Operations NSW | Transurban
Jane leads the team responsible for maintaining safe, reliable and efficient operations for our NSW business 24/7 and enhancing our customer on-road experience and prior to this role Jane led Transurban’s Group wide HSE & Road Safety team. Jane will be sharing insights to how road safety is being approached on the motorway network.
David Ballm | Director of Network (Traffic Signal) Operations | NSW
He manages a team of 36 that programmes and configures approximately 4,600 traffic signals across the state. David has over 20 years’ experience in Road Safety and traffic operations working in both Sydney and London.
Stephanie Crossley | Founder & Director | Crossley Transport Planning
Crossley Transport Planning which is a boutique consultancy specialising in transport planning, policy, strategy and engineering; offering global expertise and best practice. Stephanie is going to share insights on road safety in a local streets context.
Mark Rowland | Director Integrated Networks | Transport for NSW
Mark leads a team of planners, engineers, data analysts and advisers undertaking short to medium term transport network planning for Regional and Outer Metro (ROM) NSW and will be sharing insights into road safety in a regional context.
