Julie Gee | Transport for NSW
Julie Gee leads the Transport for NSW Transport Strategy team, responsible for setting the long-term vision for an integrated, multimodal, customer-centric transport system. This includes the ongoing development of Future Transport, creating guidelines and practical tools to support its implementation (including Movement & Place), and multimodal strategic network planning across NSW. She has 30 years’ experience in planning, policy, advocacy and research roles across state and local government, consultancies, universities and the community sector.
Julie will discuss the challenges and opportunities in setting the strategic direction of the transport system.
Grant Morris | BDO
Grant Morris is a Partner in BDO’s Infrastructure Advisory team in Sydney. He has over 19 years of experience in infrastructure planning, business case development and program and project management. He has played key consulting and government leadership roles on numerous high-profile projects including the Western Sydney Rapid Bus, Western Sydney Transport & Roads Portfolio Office, NSW Special Activation Precincts, Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 2 and various TransLink public transport infrastructure programs.
Grant will speak about how to craft a business case for a project that seeks to do things differently in a fast-growing Western Sydney context.
Nancye Ng | VLC
Nancye Ng is a Senior Consultant at VLC, where she has led strategic transport modelling, economic appraisals, policy analysis and model development for road and public transport projects across Australia. She recently led analysis on long-term post-COVID19 impacts on travel behaviour, and implemented model levers to reflect these in TfNSW's Strategic Transport Model. She has also led strategic transport modelling for the Future Transport Strategy.
Nancye will discuss how people changed travel during and 'after' the pandemic, and how this was applied in recent modelling work
Alex Svanberg | Transport for NSW
Alex Svanberg is the Economics lead for the Transport for NSW Business Case Centre of Excellence, and a specialist in transformational and city-shaping infrastructure projects. He has worked on the development of state and federal guidelines for transport cost-benefit analysis, including for land-use benefits, COVID-19 impacts, and vehicle operating costs. He has undertaken cost-benefit analysis for some of Australia's largest infrastructure programs, including Sydney Metro West and Victoria’s Suburban Rail Loop.
Alex will discuss how well adapted the current frameworks are for capturing benefits and reflecting the underlying challenges of modelling transformative change, and point to future directions for guidelines and practice.
