About this event
AITPM QLD and Urbis are proud to host an evening seminar to showcase how data is being used innovatively to help plan our transport networks. We will explore how data that is already at hand can be harnessed to better understand travel behaviours and plan our cities.
Join us as we hear from leading practitioners in the industry. Each of our speakers will give a short presentation followed by a Q&A discussion.

Graham McCabe | Urbis
Graham is Director, Transport Advisory with Urbis. He is a transport planner and traffic engineer with over 25 years of experience in developing and leading innovative transport planning and traffic engineering. He has previously worked for GHD, Transport for NSW, Roads and Maritime Services and the City of Sydney. Graham has deep experience and understanding of the interrelationship between land use, activity and transport. He has developed innovative designs to enable improved connectivity at a human and city scale and specialises in cost-effective, holistic transport solutions.
Emily Bobis | Compass IoT
Emily is a co-founder of Compass IoT, a multi-award-winning Road Intelligence company that uses Connected Vehicle data to build better, safer transport and city infrastructure. Emily has 6+ years of experience operating tech-enabled mobility startups with a focus on vehicle-generated data and CAV-led innovation. Emily was also a finalist for NSW Young Woman of the Year 2022, winner of Women in Digital's Innovator of the Year 2022, and is on the ITLS Board of Advice at the University of Sydney Business School.
Nick Veitch | VLC
Nick is the Managing Director of VLC, providing strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary team of over 70 professionals across Australia and Europe. He has extensive experience advising clients on major infrastructure projects, including the North East Link in Melbourne, the North-South Corridor in Adelaide, the Canberra Light Rail, Sydney Metro, and Brisbane’s Inner-City Rail Capacity Study. With a background in strategic transport modelling and spatial analytics, Nick successfully brought his master’s project to life with the development of Planwisely, an innovative cloud-based geospatial analytics platform that provides spatial data and analysis tools to help public and private sector clients make evidence-based decisions.
In addition to his leadership role at VLC, Nick is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the AITPM. He is currently serving as the National Chair of the AITPM Transport Modelling Network, where he plays a key role in shaping the future of transport modelling in Australia.
