Matthew Tilly | City of Gold Coast
Matthew has managed the City’s Transport & Traffic Branch since 2016, having moved back to the Gold Coast a few years earlier to help deliver Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1 and oversee the City’s Transport Program for GC2018. There’s never a dull moment for Matthew’s team, with around 300 capital projects and the same number of operational initiatives currently underway, not to mention the human challenges associated with supporting just under 200 members of staff. Outside of work, Matthew enjoys spending time with his family and competing in ultra-marathons.
Matthew will present an update on the Draft Transport Strategy being prepared by the City of Gold Coast.
David Balfe | Department of Transport and Main Roads
David is a Manager in the Strategic Rail branch of TransLink Division, Department of Transport and Main Roads. His experience covers strategic transport planning, demand forecasting, economic appraisals and business case development. In his role at TMR, David is responsible for the 10-year Rail Network Strategy and for engaging on TMR's behalf with strategic rail planning issues in the 10-year horizon.
David will speak about SEQ Rail Connect, the 10-year strategy for passenger rail in South East Queensland, released in August this year. He will detail the future of rail on the Gold Coast and discuss his thoughts around the opportunity the rail network will provide for the coast.
