About this event
AITPM QLD Branch is hosting a Transport Hackathon to gather and collaborate the creative minds in the transport industry. This hackathon will tackle a specific transport theme: Connecting Brisbane's Inner City. This theme is inspired by Brisbane City Council’s desire to see enhanced connectivity for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. More details are below in the Challenge Statement.
This transport hackathon will stretch your imagination about what we would like our city to look like in time for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and beyond. Attendees will be grouped at random upon arrival and be tasked to collaborate and “hack” at the theme. A short presentation on the “solution” will be completed on the night with the winning team gets bragging rights.
Transport Hackathon Challenge Statement:
Brisbane City Council’s "Brisbane’s Book of Big Ideas" showcases the diversity and creativity of the Big Ideas as well as the variety of community ideas and feedback that Council has received about ways to improve and enhance Brisbane’s inner city in the lead up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Brisbane City Council’s community engagement program “Inner Spark” is based around seven engagement themes – designed to help stimulate and categorise ideas and feedback throughout the engagement phases. A summary of the “Connected” theme is below:
- The community told us we can create a more connected city by:
- prioritising investment in transport infrastructure, such as additional ferry terminals in key locations.
- improving the pedestrian and cycle network by constructing additional separated bike paths and improving and widening existing footpaths in the inner city.
- facilitating better linkages between key precincts, including additional green bridges, active transport links and improved public transport.
The transport hackathon challenge is to take one of these ‘most liked’ community ideas and develop it or brainstorm a completely new idea for Connecting Brisbane’s Inner City. Each group should bring our panel of judges a convincing idea and explain its merits in a five-minute pitch. Each team’s pitch will be scored by the judges.
The criteria are based on four areas:
- Novelty - How innovative is the idea?
- Feasibility - How feasible is this idea?
- Pitch - How well was the idea presented? (Five minute presentation, two minutes Q&A)
- Impact - How impactful is this idea?
May the best team's idea win bragging rights!
