David Ballm | Director | Network Operations | Transport for NSW
David has worked in road safety and operations for approximately 20 years starting off in London before arriving in Sydney approximately 10 years ago. I have a major interest in improving road safety wherever possible and ensuring equitable access is provided for all user groups across the road network. As part of my current role, I am responsible for the operation of approximately 4,600 traffic signals across NSW.
Chris Zito | Director | Operational Improvement | Transport for NSW
Chris has worked in traffic and transport planning and operations for nearly 30 years in both the private and public sectors. He was part of the team that integrated SCATS into simulation models, building the first Sydney CBD SCATSIM model.
He currently leads a team in Transport for NSW configuring the road network, optimising its operation to the benefit of all road users.
Gareth Rapp | Technical Manager | Network Operations | Transport for NSW
Gareth has worked within the Network Operations team for 12 years, fine tuning traffic signal parameters within SCATS to optimize traffic flow, minimise delays and ensuring safe and efficient intersections. He has also worked on the Sydney Light Rail project with the focus of reducing the overall journey time.
Roy Brown - Director | Technology SCATS | Transport for NSW
Roy is a senior executive with over 20 years’ experience in the technology and communications sector. He has worked in roles from Namibia to Sweden, Bangladesh to Singapore, South Africa to Indonesia. His experience covers telecommunications technology, software and solutions from the introduction of mobile packet networks and mobile data to the design, launch and management of significant national infrastructure and technology innovations, such as NBN’s Fixed Wireless product.
Roy has led teams that build technology products and solutions, managed profit and loss lines and delivery schedules, built and managed multiple value propositions and end user experiences, including taking the NBN Fixed Wireless business from $0 in revenue to over $300M per annum. He believes that building high performing teams is the key to success and is passionate about harnessing the power of teams to make positive change to the world and to leave a legacy of excellence.
David McWilliam | Director | Commercial | Transport for NSW
David is an experienced commercial executive enabling the growth of ambitious business ventures spanning telecommunications, asset management and winemaking/viticulture. Successful at leading complex large-scale businesses, David has 20+ years of diverse leadership experience through start-up, development and transformational change environments to deliver sustainable growth and profitability. He thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments with an ability to simplify and resolve complex business problems, unearthing commercial opportunities and unlocking value while balancing risk.
David led the team at NBN co. as General Manager Commercial Implementation, in standing up the new housing developments fibre-to-the-premises rollout program, and then led the acquisition of TPG Telecom’s TransACT FttP network. He went on to play a key role leading the implementation of the highly complex revised commercial agreements between Telstra, nbn and the Federal Government that enabled rollout of nbn’s multi-technology-mix network. David’s role at Transport for NSW within the SCATS venture is Director Commercial; responsible for driving the commercial performance of SCATS primarily through leading a team executing customer sales, support, channel partner management and industry engagement.
