With the roll out of the new National Austroads Guides to Temporary Traffic Management there have been changes to the way temporary traffic management is planned and completed in Western Australia. For those involved in the planning, approval and implementation of temporary traffic management in Western Australia, this event will shed light on the changes that came into effect on 1 February 2021 and how this impacts on our industry.
Join us to hear from both speakers who welcome discussing the National Austroads Guides to Temporary Traffic Management and encourage discussion as part of the presentation.
The presentation will be provided by:
- Gareth Peers who is currently the Road Safety Policy Coordinator at Main Roads WA and involved in the roll out of the new Austroads Guidelines to Temporary Traffic Management in Western Australia.
- Gregory Gendron works within the Main Roads WA Road Planned Intervention (RPI) team who are responsible for the review and approval of many of the temporary traffic management plans implemented on our roads.
Gareth Peers | Road Safety Policy Coordinator, Main Roads WA
Gareth Peers is currently the Road Safety Policy Coordinator at Main Roads WA and involved in the roll out of the new Austroads Guidelines to Temporary Traffic Management in Western Australia. The 2019 update of AS1742.3 by Standards Australia has resulted in the removal of content from the existing standard (2009) that has been determined to be guidance material, which is not appropriate to locate within an Australian Standard. This guidance material has now been substantially transferred into the Austroads Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (AGTTM) with an expansion to the guidance material based on information from Austroads member organisations. As of 1 February 2021 Western Australia has formally adopted AGTTM, the Traffic Management for Works on Roads Code of Practice details the Western Australian departures. This presentation will give a brief overview of the AGTTM adoption in WA.
Gregory Gendron | Main Roads WA Road Planned Intervention (RPI)
Gregory Gendron works within the Main Roads WA Road Planned Intervention (RPI) team who are responsible for the review and approval of many of the temporary traffic management plans implemented on our roads. The recently released Temporary Traffic Management: Traffic Signal Approval Policy provides step by step guidance for organisations seeking to undertake temporary traffic management at permanent traffic signal locations. As the approval body for works associated with traffic signals and other complex scenarios, RPI have a keen interest in the quality of submissions and the suitability of proposed treatments. With the operations of RPI they are uniquely positioned to observe trends in temporary traffic management submissions across the industry.
