About this event
The AITPM QLD Transport Modelling Network (TMN) is proud to bring you the first in-person Technical Forum for 2025 generously sponsored by Jacobs.
Join us for light refreshments and hear from a range of speakers on relevant transport modelling topics.
This Technical Forum will provide insights from industry leaders sharing their experience with model calibration and validation across Australia, guidelines and best practice. This is a great opportunity for professionals to network with like-minded colleagues within the Transport Modelling Network, sharing their experiences and hopefully coming away with some insights on this important topic.
Registrations close Friday 14 February 2025

Peter Davidson | TransPosition
Peter Davidson has worked in the transportation field for over 30 years and has broad experience with transport planning and modelling with a focus on advanced analytical methods and software development. After founding his own company, TransPosition, in 1993 he developed a number of major four-step models and conceived and implemented a new approach (the TPACS model) which has been used for around $20b of investment decisions with models in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Toowoomba as well as national models for Australia and New Zealand. This work has included bid advice for the sale of Sydney Motorways/WestConnex, post-construction sales of Clem 7 and Queensland Motorways, business case assessment of the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, and forecasts for Melbourne's EastLink. He is particularly interested in understanding and modelling emerging changes to travel behaviour, including the impacts of electric and autonomous vehicles; increased preferences for working and shopping from home; and the relationship between cost-of-living, housing costs and transport. Through TransPosition, and its sister company TransPosition Tolling Demand, he has advised numerous government and industry clients on these issues.
Matt Ryan | Jacobs
Matt is a highly skilled transport modeller and planner with more than 22 years’ experience, many of those years spent successfully leading high performing teams across ANZ in the transport planning and modelling markets. Since joining Jacobs in 2012 Matt has led or been involved in numerous significant transport planning and model development projects for state and local government clients. He spent the first 10 years of his career with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and led their Transport Modelling Team from 2009-2012.
Matt’s depth of experience includes all elements of transport modelling from the development, application and interpretation of transport models through to model application and interpretation for business cases. He is experienced in the use of several software packages with a focus on strategic modelling.
Dan Brown | KPMG
Dan has over 25 years’ experience in developing, calibrating and applying strategic transport models across Australia, New Zealand and the UK, firstly at a large engineering consultancy and more recently as a partner in KPMGs Infrastructure, Assets and Places business in Brisbane. His experience has been honed on a number of significant planning and business case projects for both the private and public sector clients and applied to the road, aviation and public transport sectors. He is most interested in how strategic models replicate user choice behaviours and then how these models, combined with an understanding of the benefits realised by the community lead to robust decision making and positive outcomes for the communities in which we live and work.
Damien Bitzios | Bitzios Consulting
Damien has over 30 years of experience as a traffic engineer and transport planner in consulting and in local government, including in all types of transport and traffic modelling. He has led projects throughout Australia, Asia, Middle East and America and has published and presented papers nationally and internationally on modelling, traffic, freight and integrated planning topics. Recent years have seen Damien fill project leadership, mentoring and training roles within his business and independent peer review roles for high-profile projects for state and local government agencies.
