Bradley Murphy | Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage
After completing a Masters of Architecture, Bradley spent the last 5 years in the public sector working on achieving good urban design outcomes for a range of projects as part of the Metronet Station Precincts Team. He has a passion for creating responsive urban spaces that are comfortable for all users.
Bradley will be presenting on how urban design can be used to achieve a balance of movement and place outcomes in an urban corridor context to create high quality environments for people to live and travel. Urban corridors serve as a nexus of demand for enhanced public transport, infill development, tackling congestion and improving active transport which if not planned carefully can become a hostile environment for all users.
Margarita Houston | Public Transport Authority
Margarita is a Project Manager within the Public Transport Authority’s Rail Planning Branch. Having graduated with a Master of Architecture from Curtin University, Margarita entered Project Management and Public Transport industry where she has since been working toward developing her career within the industry. Since joining PTA she has been involved in managing various rail infrastructure projects through the planning phase, juggling complex rail systems requirements with passenger needs.
Margarita will be presenting on how the strategic work of the Rail Planning branch and her Architectural lens has informed her work on planning Lakelands and Midland Stations. Margarita’s architectural background has led her to appreciate the important role public transport plays in the development of our cities and the importance of early planning in achieving a successful outcome.
Bonnie McManus | AECOM
Bonnie is currently a Graduate Sustainability Consultant at AECOM with a passion for creating sustainable legacies. She has experience in influencing a variety of transportation projects at various stages of design, incorporating environmental, social and governance (ESG) sustainability considerations to achieve positives outcomes. Bonnie also has experience in the delivery of technical sustainability deliverables for projects of state significance.
Bonnie will be presenting on her experiences of integrating ESG into transport planning and in the workplace, providing examples of her recent work on the Great Eastern Highway Bypass Interchanges, Perth Airport Northern Access and how she contributes to driving sustainability initiatives within the workplace.
Jarren Minorgan | Department of Transport
Jarren is an Urban and Regional Planning graduate from Curtin University, with an interest in micro-mobility, sustainability and technology. He is currently a Project Officer at the Department of Transport, working on a diverse range of projects for the planning and delivery of the WA Active Transport Network.
Jarren will be presenting his dissertation, completed last year as part of his Urban and Regional Planning degree. “The Niche Between Walking and Cycling” explores the users, use and measurement constraints of eRideables within Greater Perth.
John Trieu | WSP
John is a Chartered Engineer with over ten years of experience providing advice on transport engineering and infrastructure projects around Australia. His experience covers a broad range of areas, including transport modelling, engineering, and planning and uses this experience to solve problems innovatively and provide advice using new and different approaches.
John will be exploring key learnings from his work developing a transport model for Western Sydney, including the potential for cloud computing to assist in the analysis of big datasets to better understand the range of observed values; and how machine learning can be implemented to estimate population and employment based on existing land use, and then extrapolated to future greenfield sites.
