About this event
After ARUP’s triumphant victory in the 2024 Lawn Bowls Championship, where they claimed the prestigious "Be Engineering Championship Pennant," the stage was set for an even bigger spectacle in 2025. The greens were alive with competition, camaraderie, and the warm glow of summer twilight but the SA Emerging Professionals knew they could aim higher.
This year, we’re raising the stakes and partnering with a like-minded organisation, IPWEA, to deliver a truly next-level event: the 2025 AITPM & IPWEA SA Lawn Bowls Championship! Designed to bring together the brightest emerging professionals in a night of friendly competition, networking, and fun.
What’s at stake?
The legendary blue and gold "AITPM SA Lawn Bowls Championship Be Engineering Solutions Trophy." But more than that, it’s about fostering connections, embracing friendly competition, and crowning a new champion—or perhaps witnessing ARUP defend their title in spectacular fashion.
Pre-Event Technical Presentations
Before the competition kicks off, join us for an insightful technical presentation from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Presentations including:
- Transforming Jetty Road Project - James Arnold, Tonkin Engineering
James has been the project and engineering lead for the ‘Transforming Jetty Road Project’ with the City of Holdfast Bay. As the technical presenter for the AITPM Lawn Bowls event, James will be discussing the ‘Transforming Jetty Road Project’ in terms of the process that has been undertaken thus far. From master planning to the engineering design and all the way through to consultation for Jetty Road, James will be speaking toward the collaborative process between Tonkin and Council that has resulted in one of the most ambitious streetscape projects for the State.
- Greening our City - Bill Zhang and Amber Barnes, Be Engineering
City of Adelaide’s public realm greening project is a multi-year program to support a net increase in street trees annually, aligned to heat island data within Council’s Integrated Climate Strategy 2030 and City Plan 2036. This program will integrate greening outcomes into existing infrastructure renewal and upgrades to provide shade and cool areas where people move around and use the city, such as footpaths, outdoor dining, events, sports, main streets and retail destinations. The presentation by Bill and Amber will focus on the road safety and infrastructure challenges in achieving City of Adelaide’s target of 40% canopy cover in the streets and parks by 2035. In line with these priorities, the review and assessment of tree planting locations has targeted areas throughout the CBD with the most significant heat island effects and lowest levels of existing canopy cover. The selection of locations specifically has been constrained by; available streetscape space, the presence of underground services and potential impacts to parking and general traffic flow in these locations. Accordingly, each design has ensured minimal impact to sight lines, while ensuring the maintenance of routine turn paths for road users. The inclusion of trees within the road reserve have additionally minimised the loss of net parking spaces, in most cases acting as a mechanism to upgrade informal parking spaces to those compliant with Australian Standards but not without it’s challenges.
