Dr Kasun Wijayaratna | Senior Lecturer, UTS and Director, Mobility Thinking Pty Ltd
Dr Kasun Wijayaratna is a Senior Lecturer at UTS and a Director of Mobility Thinking Pty Ltd, an emerging research consulting and software as a service firm. He is an application focussed transport researcher and teacher with over 14 years of experience, publishing in a vast array of fields extending across network modelling and traffic management. Between 2009 and 2012, Kasun worked for the consulting firm Cardno (now known as Stantec) as a Traffic Engineer and Modeller. Kasun is a RCITI and UNSW alumni, completing his studies and serving as a Research Associate. Since joining UTS in 2019, he works closely with Transport for New South Wales providing valuable research in the topics of shared spaces and placemaking as a means of improving accessibility and social connection within road environments.
Dr Amit Bhattarai | Senior Urban and Transport Planner, Transport for NSW
Amit is a senior urban and transport planner with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors. He provides expert advice on transport strategy, planning, operations and management.
At Transport for NSW, Amit has worked on major projects, including place-based transport plans, transport operational frameworks and master plans. Most recently, he led the Transport Structure Plan for South West Sydney.
In addition to his professional work, Amit is a casual academic at Sydney University, where he teaches Urban and Regional Planning. He shares his industry knowledge and insights with students, drawing on both his practical experience and his PhD in Urban Planning from Sydney University.
Sara Stace | Director of Cities, Vivendi Consulting
Sara is a city shaper, strategic thinker and innovator on cities, land use, urban transport and economics. She’s worked at federal, state and local government, and the private sector, spanning 30 years, and is currently on the board of World Cycling Alliance and President of Better Streets.
Sara collaborates across different professions and sectors to ensure that, when we manage and design our streets, creating places for communities and improving the environment come first.
Dr Emily Moylan | Senior Lecturer - Transport, School of Civil Engineering, University of Sydney
Emily Moylan is a Senior Lecturer of Transport at the School of Civil Engineering, University of Sydney, where she is leading a research program in the stochasticity of transport system performance. Emily’s research focuses on developing data-driven models and tools to unpack the richness of variation and provide more nuanced and accurate assessment of multimodal system performance.
Emily has partnered with Transport for New South Wales, NSW Health, NSW Dept of Planning and Environment, the Office for Road Safety, and the US Transit Cooperative Research Program to translate her work into practice and policy.
