2025 marks a major milestone for Matrix Traffic and Transport Data Pty Ltd as we celebrate 20 years of delivering excellence in traffic and transport data collection and reporting, across Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Korea and Indonesia.
Since our establishment in January 2005, we have grown into a trusted industry leader, providing high-quality data collection and analysis that helps shape the future of transport planning.
We started in a serviced office in the Blue Tower in Toowong, Brisbane. Back in 2005 it was a 50 / 50 partnership with Skyhigh Traffic Surveys UK. Our growth has been steady but consistent. Demand for our services drove us to open an office in Sydney straight away. Soon after, Melbourne, and then Perth followed. Our international expansion took us to New Zealand in 2016, where we established an office in Auckland.
In 2016 Martin and Shaleen Prowse bought out the UK share in Skyhigh and changed the name to Matrix. In 2018, we ventured across the other side of the world to England [UK] and set up an office in the northern town of Carlisle.
In 2024, we expanded our New Zealand presence with an office in Porirua servicing Porirua, Kapiti Coast and Wellington.
In 2005, we had just started to use video to collect traffic data. The cameras were large and cumbersome.
Now in 2025, we have over 1,200 micro traffic survey cameras scattered across our offices.
From traditional manual traffic surveys to advanced video analytics, AI-driven data processing, and big data integration, Matrix has always been at the forefront of innovation. We take pride in our commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and safety, demonstrated by our ISO 45001 certification (WHS) and ISO 9001 certification (QA).
Our dedicated team of skilled professionals has spent two decades refining our methodologies, embracing new technologies, and supporting our clients with reliable and insightful data. Our ability to adapt and to evolve, particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, has enabled Matrix to grow and to thrive. Our innovative approach in an ever-changing industry has been the key to our success, ensuring our clients -from government agencies to private consultants -receive the highest standard of service.
