2024 National Transport Conference Keynote Speaker Tour

Off the back of the huge success of the 2024 AITPM National Transport Conference, AITPM has continued the energy post-conference on a speaking tour with our international guests.
Arcadis's Margaret Parkhill has been presenting and meeting members of the transport community in Sydney and also in Brisbane at the recent 50cent public transport success factors event.
Kirsty Kelly, AITPM's CEO has been travelling around the country, accompanying Welsh Member of Parliament and former member of the Transport Ministry Lee Waters MS and leading UK transport planning consultant Phil Jones of PJA, on an intensive tour of meetings and events sharing the Welsh experience with carbon budgets, Roads Review and reducing the urban speed limit.

Sydney - Lee & Phil
- Meeting with NSW Roads Minister John Graham.
- Presenting to the NSW Parliamentary Friends of Active Transport with MPs including Dr Marjorie O'Neill MP and Kobi Shetty MP.
- Boardroom briefing with senior representatives from Transport for NSW.
- NSW Local Government transport professional's forum and panel discussion.
- Public keynote and panel discussion including Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore AO and former Active Transport Minister Rob Stokes.
- NSW Emerging Professionals seminar to inspire the next generations.
- Head table guest at the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand Luncheon featuring our keynote speaker Margaret Parkhill.
Canberra - Lee & Phil
- Parliamentary Friends of Cycling breakfast event with our collaborators WeRide and BetterStreets with parliamentarians in attendances including the Hon. Andrew Wallace, the Hon. Dr Helen Haines, Senator David Pocock, and the Hon. Kate Chaney MP.
- Guests of the Speaker of the House of Representatives Milton Dick MP in the Speaker's Box for Question Time, where Lee's attendance was formally acknowledged by the Speaker.
- Meeting with the Hon. Chris Bowen Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Australian Government.
- Meeting with representatives from the Federal Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts from the Net Zero, Road Safety and Urban Policy Units.
- Meeting with ACT Minister for Transport and Planning Chris Steel MLA.
- Panel presentation and seminar for ACT Government staff across multiple portfolios.
- Boardroom meeting with senior executives across the ACT Government.
Adelaide - Lee
- Meeting with The Hon. Tom Koutsantonis Minister for Infrastructure and Transport and Jon Whelan, CEO Department for Infrastructure and Transport, and the Lord Mayor of Adelaide Jane Lomax-Smith.
- Industry Roundtable with a range of SA stakeholders across transport, climate and health.
Still to come in Melbourne, Lee and Kirsty will be engaging with:
- Department of Transport and Planning senior staff.
- Industry Boardroom briefing with senior executives from organisations including the transport accident Commision the National Transport Commission, NTRO and Austroads.
- The Hon. Gabrielle Williams Minister for Active Transport.
- Local Government transport professionals briefing.
- Community road safety advocacy event with Better Streets and Yarra City Council.
