The AITPM 2024 National Transport Conference, themed “Navigating Together Towards Shared Transport Goals,” brought together over 400 global experts to discuss challenges and strategies in transport.
This year’s event featured a range of insightful presentations from leading figures in the field, complemented by practical sessions that offered hands-on learning opportunities.
The conference served as a dynamic platform for in-depth discussions and knowledge sharing, highlighting the diverse and evolving nature of transport issues and solutions worldwide.
Featuring over 30+ hours of presentations from over 130 speakers and panellists, including interactive workshops and hands on sessions, #AITPMPERTH2024 was definitely not your standard 9 to 5.
A Message from the Co-Convenors
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making the AITPM National Transport Conference 2024 in Perth such a resounding success. It was an incredible privilege to serve as co-convenor for this year’s event, which brought together over 400 delegates from across Australia. Our diverse group of over 140 speakers, including 7 distinguished keynote speakers, provided invaluable insights into the future of transport, all aligned with our conference theme, "Navigating Towards Shared Transport Goals."
Throughout the conference, the emphasis on collaboration among multiple stakeholders was evident. The speakers highlighted how working together across Federal, State and Local Governments, the private sector, and the community is crucial for achieving our collective aspirations in transport planning, transport modelling, traffic engineering, climate change adaptation and resilient infrastructure, road safety and active transport.
The broad participation from State Government representatives, Local Government practitioners and consultants showcased the strength of our collective expertise and commitment to advancing the transport industry. The engaging discussions and innovative ideas exchanged during the conference have undoubtedly sparked new ways of thinking and will help shape our approaches to the challenges and opportunities ahead.
The practical sessions and workshops were some of the key highlights of the conference where the full energy of the transport community was on display. Thank you for your wholehearted participation and valuable contribution. Small discussions that tool place around the table in the conference can spark the next big change in the industry.
Key takeaways from this year’s conference include the growing importance of integrating climate resilience into transport infrastructure, the need for continued innovation in transport modelling and planning, and the critical role of collaboration across all levels of government and the private sector to achieve our shared transport goals. The emphasis on active transport, public transport and road safety also highlighted our collective responsibility to create safer and more sustainable communities.
