From the President - December 2019 - Bonus Edition
It is with great excitement that your Board announced the appointed of Ms Kirsty Kelly to the newly created position of CEO and it is great to see how that has been so positively received as shown, for example by comments on our FaceBook (some 549 engagements and 22 likes) and LinkedIn (over 100 likes and 30 odd comments across two main threads) sites that, among the congratulations, included one that said “They’re lucky to have you”
It made me think of how far we have progressed and how far we can go.
It is extremely important that we mobilise resources to efficiently and effectively support our volunteers and promote their valuable contribution and ideas to the benefit of the whole community.
Kirsty has plotted out an immediate plan. Between now and the end of January (with a 2-week family holiday in the middle) she will be working on getting to understand AITPM deeply and mapping out this new role. She will then come and meet with committees in February or March where possible and attend events.
With the adoption of new resources, I see a huge and exciting future for the AITPM.
Christmas and a time to think of others
I wish you all a merry Christmas and trust that you can find enough time to spend with your family and friends.
It is also appropriate to reflect on those who are giving up their Christmas to keep us safe. I saw a photo by Graeme Pattison taken out of the office window at the CAV workshop on the 5th December. It was Sydney shrouded in smoke from the bushfires. How thankful we are for those who are committed to protecting our communities at all times.
