Transport and Land Use Planning are hot topics in NSW at the moment.
To round out the year, the NSW Branch President, Graham McCabe will be holding a fireside chat with Simon Hunter, Chief Transport Planner from Transport for NSW, Tom Loomes, Executive Director, Strategic Planning and Policy from the NSW Department of Planning Housing and Infrastructure and Vithu Vigneswaramoorthy, Assistant Manager- Advisory Project and Infrastructure, BDO. During this conversation, we'll look back on 2024, look ahead to 2025 and discuss current and future options for careers in transport.
Following this conversation, we'll end the year with networking drinks and canapes.

Simon Hunter | Chief Transport Planner | Transport for NSW
Simon started as the Chief Transport Planner in Transport for NSW in 2022. In this role he is responsible for the Transport Planning Branch that sets the future direction for integrated transport and land use in NSW. Simon has worked for over 20 years in the NSW Government, primarily in Transport, working in policy and planning roles in freight, regional and urban transport roles as well as in infrastructure strategy as an Executive Director at Infrastructure NSW
Tom Loomes | Executive Director Strategic Planning and Policy | NSW Department of Planning Housing and Industry
Tom is an experienced senior executive in the NSW Government, specialising in property, development, planning and transport. He is currently Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Policy in the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. He has previously served in numerous executive roles in the Department of Planning, including Executive Director of Stakeholder Engagement and Policy Implementation, Chief of Staff to the Secretary, Executive Director of the Office of the Secretary and the Director of the Planning Concierge. Tom has also served on the senior leadership teams of various Ministers and a former Premier of NSW.
Vithu Vigneswaramoorthy | Assistant Manager, Project and Infrastructure Advisory | BDO
Vithu is a civil engineer specialising in strategic planning, project management and the delivery of infrastructure projects. Vithu has key experiences across project management, transport planning and engineering through delivering transport infrastructure projects. Vithu has delivered Transport for NSW projects in both the public and private sector. Having worked in a multinational, Tier 1 engineering firm in Australia, Vithu credits her civil engineering background for her excellent project management skills and technical background. She has experience in delivering State-significant infrastructure projects spanning rail and infrastructure sectors. She is currently working as a Project and Infrastructure Advisory consultant with a background in Civil Engineering, specialising in project management, strategic transport planning and the delivery of infrastructure projects in both the public and private sectors.
