The AITPM Victoria Branch and AECOM are excited to host an in-person technical event on what’s next for e-scooters in Melbourne. Victoria launched shared e-scooters in the Cities of Melbourne, Yarra, Port Phillip and Ballarat in 2021/22. The Melbourne trial has been lauded as an “Enormous success” by the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. Melbourne has seen some of the strongest demand for e-scooter trips in the world. This year some other cities around the world are stepping back from their much earlier foray into shared e-scooters. Melbourne’s overly cautious approach, informed by lessons learned from other cities as well as our own experiences with previous shared bike schemes, seems to have paid off. The key question for us now is, what’s next for e-scooters in Melbourne.
