ABSTRACT

The Cycleway Design Toolbox provides guidance for practitioners on desired outcomes for cycling and micromobility in NSW. In addition to a suite of optimal road and intersection configurations for a range of cycleway types, the Toolbox establishes design principles for cycleways in specific contexts, including temporary initiatives, and public bicycle parking facilities. This presentation will provide an overview of the development of the Toolbox, the high-level principles for designing cycling friendly infrastructure, how to select the appropriate facility for particular environments, and delve into detail on cycleway design and trade-offs/implications/considerations to bear in mind.
