ABSTRACT
While Activity-Based Models have received considerable interest in Australia there are several barriers to their development, including the high cost and time to develop, and the steep learning curve. One way to overcome these barriers is through a “donor model” approach, where an existing Activity-Based Model is transplanted into an Australian city. This is the approach VLC recently took to building an Activity-Based Model of South East QLD, which was based on a model of the San Francisco Bay Area. This presentation will explain how the model was built, talk through some high-level model validation results, show the results of a work from home scenario, and discuss how the model could be used in practice, both now and with further development.
