ABSTRACT
Over more than two decades, Transurban has played a strong role in supporting the development and operation of up to 16 major motorways in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. This has included one of Australia’s first Smart Motorways – the City Link in Melbourne and the soon to be completed Sydney WestConnex which has fully provisioned for smart motorway facilities across sections of the M4, M8 and Saint Peter’s Interchange, including a set of “world first” underground motorway to motorway ramp meters.
This presentation intends to outline why and how Transurban believes road agencies should continue to work towards an integrated network strategy that expands smart motorway planning, delivery and operations across our cities.
